The McDonnell Story
McDonnell Caravans has been helping people create unforgettable holiday memories since 1966, when Mr McDonnell Snr transformed a plot of land into our very first caravan sales showground. With a focus on personal service and family values, the business quickly flourished.
In 1983, Mike McDonnell proudly took the reins, continuing the family tradition of warm service and trusted expertise.
Today, our experienced team of 25 dedicated staff is passionate about helping you enjoy the freedom and choice that holiday home ownership brings.
In 2024, we became part of Holkham Estate, joining their award-winning array of Norfolk hospitality and leisure businesses.
We continue to deliver the exceptional customer service our owners have come to expect, but with the additional expertise and support of the Holkham team.

Meet Team McDonnell
We are a cheerful bunch, many of whom have worked at McDonnell for over 20 years, and love nothing more than ensuring love staying in their home away from home at our parks across West Norfolk.
Our Team is headed up by Darren, David, Will and Helen and together they manage our wonderful team of accountants, gas engineers, mechanics, cleaners and gardeners.
The faces behind McDonnell Caravans
Darren Williams, Head of Holkham Holiday Parks
Darren joined the McDonnell Team in 2025 and he enjoys swimming, cycling and exploring the coast with his family in his caravan.
David Smith, General Manager
David has been an integral part of the McDonnell Team since 1993. He oversees sales, haulage and groudworks across the 6 parks.
He loves exploring the UK with his wife, Helen and partaking in country sports.
Will Thompson,
Sales Manager
Will has been with McDonnell for five years and manages sales across both our own and associated parks.
Will loves music, sport and anything to do with wine and food (particularly wine)!
Helen Smith,
Receptionist and Administrator
Helen joined the team in 2013. and takes care of Reception at Gayton and makes an excellent cuppa!
When she’s not spending time with her grandchildren, Helen loves nothing more getting creative in her crafting studio.
Carol Moseley,
Accounts Administrator
Carol has worked at McDonnell for over 20 years and oversees payroll, insurance and invoicing.
Carol spends her time supporting her daughter who represents England and Norfolk in sporting events!
Jared, Gas Engineer
Jared is our gas engineer at McDonnell and installs and manages all our owners gas tanks.
Jared loves to spend time with his wife and their three girls.
Allison Peeling,
Finance Controller
Allison has been part of the McDonnell Team for 4 years and manages our finances.
Ally loves to spend her time travelling across the globe and making memories with her family and friends.
Ian Balls, Touring Caravan Engineer
Ian joined McDonnell in 1999 and has been an crucial part of the team ever since. He carries out service and repairs on owners caravans and motorhomes.
Ian loves to go cruising on his motorbike and spending time outdoors fishing and shooting.
Wendy Collins,
Aftersales Manager
Wendy has been a part of the team for 8 years. When she’s not taking care of customer service, repairs and warranty at McDonnell; there’s nothing she loves more than keeping active cold-water swimming, attending spin classes and pumping iron at the gym.
In her downtime Wendy loves to cook, bake and spend time with her family.
Sue Johnson,
Financial Administration
Sue joined the team in 2001 and manages our finances and accounts.
In her spare time, Sue loves getting creative painting and making pottery. She also loves to spend time with her two dogs Maddy and Tilly.
